Microwave Crispy Spicy Makhana (Foxnut) Recipe ( Healthier Than Popcorn) : JhaalMurhi Flavour

Makhana, or fox nuts or lotus seeds are very popular in India as a fasting food. Makhanas are a good source of protein, carbohydrates, fibre, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and zinc, and have high fibre content, thus making it a healthier option to snack on.

Recipe

In a small microwave-safe bowl heat mustard oil on high for 1 minute.

Take out the bowl ( don’t forget mittens as the oil is too hot and can scald, I love these silicon mittens as they have great grip for holding the glass while protecting from the heat)

Mix all the spices in hot oil and stir well

Take the makhanas in a large microwave-safe bowl with lockable lid

Pour the oil and spice mix on top of makhanas, close the lid and shake well so that oil coats all the makhanas.

Remove the lid and put the makhanas in the microwave on a high for 2 minutes, stir the makhanas after minutes and heat on medium for 1 more minute.

Take out and allow them to cool.

Yor crispy, spicy, healthy snack is ready to be served.
